The number which expressed by the a/b is known as rational numbers. the word rational mean the ratio. it mean the rational numbers related to the ratio, the rational numbers a/b, "a" and "b" both are integers and b is not equal to the 0 Examples 1/2, 3/4, 1/5 is general examples of rational numbers.
