Question: Describe carnot cycle for maximum convertibility of heat into work?
The Carnot cycle is a theoretical process that consists of four reversible steps: isothermal expansion, adiabatic expansion, isothermal compression and adiabatic compression. The Carnot cycle achieves the maximum possible efficiency of converting heat into work by operating between two temperature reservoirs and minimizing the entropy generation. The efficiency of the Carnot cycle depends only on the ratio of the temperatures of the reservoirs and not on the working substance or the details of the process.
