A hypothesis test study that I would like to conduct is to compare the average ratings of two different types of movies: comedy and horror. I would use a random sample of 100 movies from each genre and calculate their mean and standard deviation. My variable of interest is the difference in mean ratings between the two genres. My null hypothesis is that there is no difference in mean ratings, and my alternative hypothesis is that there is a difference. My guess is that comedy movies have higher ratings than horror movies on average. If I reject the null hypothesis, it would mean that there is a statistically significant difference in ratings between the two genres. This would change my conclusion about which genre is more popular and enjoyable among moviegoers. It would also influence my decision on what type of movie to watch or recommend to others.
