Vygotsky's theory emphasizes the role of social interaction in cognitive development. He argued that children learn by interacting with more knowledgeable adults and peers. Bruner's theory emphasizes the role of adults in providing support and guidance to children as they learn. He argued that adults can scaffold children's learning by providing them with hints and clues, and by breaking down complex tasks into smaller, more manageable steps.

Cognitive development is a lifelong process that continues throughout adulthood. However, the most rapid period of cognitive development occurs during childhood. This is because children are constantly exposed to new information and experiences, and they are eager to learn and explore.

There are a number of things that parents and caregivers can do to support cognitive development in children. These include:

  • Providing a stimulating environment that exposes children to new things and experiences
  • Talking to children about their experiences and helping them to make sense of the world around them
  • Reading to children and encouraging them to read on their own
  • Playing games and puzzles that help children to develop their thinking skills
