For example, if a learner chose the topic of climate change, their thesis statement might be:

Climate change is a serious threat to the planet, and it is important for everyone to take action to reduce their carbon footprint.

2. Drafting

At the drafting stage, learners would begin writing their articles. I would provide learners with a template or outline to help them organize their thoughts and ensure that their articles are well-structured.

A typical newspaper article includes the following sections:

  • Headline: The headline is a short, catchy phrase that summarizes the main point of the article.
  • Lead paragraph: The lead paragraph introduces the topic of the article and states the thesis statement.
  • Body paragraphs: The body paragraphs provide supporting evidence for the thesis statement. Each body paragraph should focus on one main point and should include evidence from credible sources.

3. Revising
