Question: Study and describe the given model chart with a well labelled diagram arterial system of frog?
In this blog post, I will study and describe the given model chart with a well labelled diagram of the arterial system of frog. The arterial system of frog consists of the blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart to different parts of the body. It begins with the truncus arteriosus, which is a cylindrical structure that arises from the ventricle and divides into two branches. Each branch further divides into three aortic arches: an anterior carotid arch, a middle systemic arch and a posterior pulmocutaneous arch.
The carotid arch supplies blood to the lower jaw, tongue, orbit and brain. The systemic arch supplies blood to the oesophagus, head, vertebral column, spinal cord, forelimbs, stomach, liver, spleen, duodenum, ileum, large intestine and gonads. The pulmocutaneous arch supplies blood to the lungs and skin. The two systemic arches join to form a median dorsal aorta, which runs posteriorly beneath the vertebral column and gives off several branches to the kidneys, body wall, rectum, bladder and hindlimbs.
